September 2025 Changes
-
8th September 2025
🚀 Updates
- 2D Pockets, Less Air Cutting: Optimized pocketing strategies keep tools cutting chips instead of air.
- Engraving Recognition (Thanks Abdullah!): Engravings are now automatically recognized and removed from op planning, reducing clutter.
- Smarter Stock Handling: Improvements to how stock is managed in the op-planning AI game.
- Op Planning Refinements: More tweaks to the AI “game” that plans operations, making decisions smarter and smoother.
- Shoulder Length Checks: Better validation stops Toolpath from suggesting tools that won’t clear your part.
- Cleaner Fusion Imports: Geometry created during imports is now grouped by setup in the Fusion timeline, with more meaningful names.
- Threaded Holes Safety Net: If defeaturing fails, Toolpath can now allow model threaded holes.
- Fusion Flat Machining: Improved settings for better Fusion flat toolpaths.
- Finish Floor Before Wall: Cutting order updated to leave cleaner results.
- Filleted Pocket Tolerance: Increased tolerance for improved pocket machining accuracy.
- Reuse Existing Ops: Unmachined features can now leverage existing operations instead of starting from scratch.
- Safer Body Names in S3: Body names extracted from part files are scrubbed of unsafe characters before storage.
- Stop Processing Deleted Files: The app now ignores deleted parts and programs.
- Profile Sectioning: Whole-part roughing benefits from better sectioning logic.
- Auto vs Fusion Setups: New ignoreFusionSetups flag lets you switch from Fusion-defined setups to auto-setups for more control.
- Surface Shadows & Undercuts: Improved handling for contoured surfaces that create shadows or undercuts.
- Facing Smarts: If a facing feature is within stock-to-leave of the stock top, no roughing is required. Toolpath now treats it like drilling or chamfering, copying the finishing tool for a no-op roughing pass in estimates.
🐞 Bugs Squashed
- Fixed dovetail tool matching issue.
- General cleanup across op planning, profiles, and tool checks.
🎯 The Big Picture
This month’s updates are about cleaner automation, smarter decisions, and tighter control. From engraving recognition and air-cut reduction to safer data handling and more flexible setup options, Toolpath keeps getting sharper without adding complexity.
August 2025 Changes
-
25th August 2025
🚀 Updates
- Scallop Everywhere: All 3D surfacing toolpaths now use scallop. This will evolve in time, but while we dial in containments, scallop is a great start for any surface. Don't forget about how easy it is to create a derived operation. See how derived operations work
- Smarter AI Multitouch: Better handling of part features and surfaces that require multiple touches from different orientations.
- User-Defined Stock: Define stock directly from Fusion setups or right inside the web app. Already know your stock or want to micromanage the details? Start in Fusion, define your setups, send them to Toolpath, and let the magic happen.
- One-Click Fusion Import: Drop your toolpaths into Fusion with just one click. Nice and easy—we’re always looking to save you some mouse clicks.
- Dovetail Tools Supported: Official support for dovetail tool matching.
- Better Tool Selection: Toolpath is now less likely to suggest hilariously large, long tools when smaller ones make more sense.
- Drill Oversize/Undersize Settings: Added flexibility for dialing in drill sizes. From the settings in cut-config you can now add a +/- value to cover more holes with your drills. See how it works
- Surface Splitting: External fillet surfaces can now be split across multiple setups (goodbye mysterious black surfaces).
- Touch-and-Avoid for Flats: Flat toolpaths now automatically avoid areas they shouldn’t go, thanks to Toolpath-created support surfaces. This improves Fusion’s optimization for open pockets in flat machining, saving air cutting and avoiding unnecessary entries into open pockets.
- Tool Library Upgrades: Upload, rename, or create tool libraries from scratch. Plus, new filtering options make finding the right tool faster. Expect ongoing improvements here too, and we’ll keep you updated weekly.
- 3D Viewer Section View: A little slice of heaven—cut through your part in the 3D viewer to see inside with section views. See how it works
🐞 Bugs Squashed
- Refined bottom heights for profiles and through features.
- Correct keyseat tool matching for filleted undercuts (now accounting for tool thickness + corner radius).
- Proper toolpath grouping for threaded holes.
- Fixed bottom heights for secondary adaptive roughing toolpaths.
- Corrected top height for boring applications.
- Fixed an issue that wasn’t respecting floor-to-wall fillets properly.
- Corrected some containments that were not being handled properly in Adaptive Roughing.
🎯 The Big Picture
This week’s updates are all about control and precision. From giving you more say in stock setups and drill sizing, to cleaning up tool selection and adding dovetail support, we’re making sure Toolpath gets smarter without getting in your way.
