Justin Gray, Ph.D.

Justin Gray, Ph.D. Toolpath Co-founder & CTO Justin Gray is an optimization expert with degrees in both computer science and aerospace engineering and 17 years of experience with software development and engineering design. He is one of the lead developers on the open-source OpenMDAO optimization framework, and has applied it to develop jet engine design models, aircraft design models, and complex multiphysics optimizations. He received a B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology (2006), his M.S. in Computer Science (2012) from Case Western Reserve University, and his Ph.D. (2018) in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan. Justin is an avid cyclist with a passion for all things mechanical. He lives in the Cleveland area with his wife and son.
