IMTS 2024: The Toolpath Recap

IMTS 2024: The Toolpath Recap

Hey there, Toolpath family!

IMTS 2024 has come and gone, and wow, what a ride! Whether you stopped by the Toolpath booth to say hi, played a round of Cornhole, or just followed our adventure online, we’re stoked you were part of it. We came into this year’s show ready to bring our best, and we think we did just that. Here’s a look back at some of the Toolpath highlights at IMTS!

What Went Down at the Toolpath Booth

Our booth was buzzing all week long! We gave everyone a sneak peek at what we’ve been working on, and the response was incredible. The highlight? Showcasing our AI-driven estimating, DFM, and machining strategies. Visitors saw firsthand how quickly they could evaluate parts based on real tool libraries and cutting parameters, getting accurate estimates for whether the parts are a good fit for their shop, whether they have the tools to machine them, and what they should cost.

And it wasn’t just our team making it happen. Paul and Ben from our Customer Success team knocked out hundreds of live demos, from Toolpath Estimating to full programming automation in Autodesk Fusion, with Toolpath developers Sandy Mader and Mark Porsby providing back up.

Toolpath CTO Justin Gray worked the custom badged toolboxes as well, sharing his technical expertise, approach to solving manufacturing problems with AI, and Toolpath history.

Attendees left the booth with huge smiles, and we had a big assist from Phil and Angelo of DSI at Demo Station 3, helping keep the action going smoothly.

We were also lucky to have some incredible Toolpath customers share their excitement firsthand. A special shoutout to CJ Abraham from Precision Product Development and Laurens Wijnschenk-Mauritsz from 3DTechDraw, who both came to IMTS to spread the word about Toolpath.

Laurens made the trip all the way from the Netherlands and was even seen giving live demos, showing attendees exactly why he's excited about Toolpath!

And if you need to relive the excitement of the Toolpath demo - don't worry! Ben has got you covered with this recorded demo of a part the Customer Success team showed at IMTS:

Partnerships, Cornhole, and Big Prizes

We had a blast teaming up with some of our favorite brands: Datron, Saunders Machine Works, Pierson Workholding, Air Turbine Tools, DSI, 5th Axis, and CNC Replacement Parts. Together, we hosted one epic Cornhole Tournament.

Huge congrats to the winners who walked away with some seriously awesome prizes and big thanks to our very own Scott Stein for mc'ing! Everyone left with giveaways, great connections, and good vibes.

And let’s not forget our daily happy hour sponsored by DSI! Each day wrapped up with great conversations, cold drinks, and a place to regroup with friends and relax after the whirlwind of IMTS.

Dancing Machines: The Datron M8 Cube and RoboWrench in Action

Let’s talk about showstoppers. IMTS 2024 brought plenty of impressive equipment to the floor, but nothing moves and makes chips quite like a Datron. We were thrilled to have Datron join us at our booth with their M8 Cube—a machine that doesn’t just cut, it dances. If you were lucky enough to catch a live demo, you know what we mean. There’s something magical about the way a Datron moves, blending precision with the grace of a ballet dancer. Truly, nothing moves like a Datron.

And Datron wasn’t just dancing for show. All week long, they were machining our #InstaMachinist passes and bottle openers, but the real jaw-dropper? They machined a Datron/Toolpath billet longboard to give away each day during the Cornhole tournament. Yep, a billet longboard. Precision, creativity, and craftsmanship—all rolled into one.

But Datron wasn’t the only one showing off. Lights Out Manufacturing came ready to impress with a dynamic demo featuring their Haas UMC 500 paired with a UR Robot. The real star? The RoboWrench, which handled 25 unique demos with different stock sizes, all without changing a single thing on the vise or robot gripper. That’s versatility at its finest! Watching that sweet transition between parts was like watching a masterclass in automation.

Toolpath was there every step of the way. I helped program 10 of the demos using Toolpath’s AI-driven strategies, ensuring everything ran smoothly, while Chris Zappettini of Zappettini Consulting teamed up with the Lights Out Manufacturing crew to program and set up the other 15 parts. The collaboration and innovation on display were next-level, and we’re proud to have been part of it.

New Faces, Big Wins

Speaking of wins, a big shoutout to our very own Scott Moyse, who took home the belt at the 2024 Autodesk Fusion CAM Challenge! Scott’s been making waves as the newest member of the Toolpath family, and IMTS was just another example of why. Truly hunting for the title all week, Scott also finished 7th overall in the Miles for Manufacturing 5k! We couldn’t be prouder.

Shoutout to Our Podcasters: The Voice of Manufacturing at IMTS

Our Toolpath Podcast Booth was buzzing all week long! We were thrilled to host some of the top voices in the manufacturing world as they stopped by to record live episodes. These podcasters created an electric atmosphere, and we’re so excited to hear what they captured during the show.

A huge thank you to the incredible podcasts that used our booth:

Make sure to check out their IMTS episodes! You won’t want to miss the insights and conversations they recorded. Give them a listen and keep the discussions going!

Customer Stories and Big Conversations

One of the coolest parts of IMTS? Hearing from so many of you—customers, partners, and fans—about how Toolpath is helping you improve your results every day. We had some incredible conversations, especially with the Hamilton team, whose expansion into contract manufacturing has been a game-changer. Their excitement around our part cost estimation and the CAM Accelerator is exactly why we do what we do.

Al Whatmough joined Chris Luecke in the IMTS+ Creators Lounge to talk cowboy hats, community, and cornhole. Watch the full interview below:

Social Media Buzz

For those of you keeping up with us on Instagram—thank you! From posts tagged with #Toolpath to #InstaMachinist, the buzz around what we’re building has been unreal! Keep those tags coming, and we’ll keep sharing your stories!

What's Next?

As much as we loved showing off at IMTS, we’re even more excited about what’s next. With all the feedback, new ideas, and connections we made at the show, you can bet we’ve got some exciting things in the pipeline. If you stopped by the booth but didn’t get a chance to dive deep into what we’re doing, don’t worry—we’re just getting started.

So, from all of us at Toolpath, thank you for making IMTS 2024 one for the books. We’ve got big plans, and we’re so glad you’re along for the ride. Stay tuned—there’s a lot more to come!

Until next time!
