In the latest episode of Chips and Tips, we shared something that’s been in the works for a while — Toolpath and Chatter are now one company.
This one felt big. Not just because it was a merger, but because of what it means for where we’re headed.
Pete Oxenham — who founded Chatter and now leads product at Toolpath — joined the episode to talk through how it all came together. Before Chatter, Pete was a shop owner. Not someone guessing at what shops need. Someone living it.
Chatter was one of the most focused products out there for automating quoting and CAM. It was fast, clean, and built by someone who had actually done the work. Now, that thinking is part of Toolpath. And Pete is leading the full product team across quoting, CAM automation, and shop floor execution.
It is all coming together.
Toolpath has always been about clarity. Helping shops run smoother with less chaos and fewer dropped balls. Chatter shared that exact same goal. This just brings it all into one platform — one place where teams can go from quote to cut without jumping between tools or duct taping together systems.
Pete said it best in the episode. Chatter came out of the real pain he felt running his own shop. The things that broke down. The time that got wasted. The mess of spreadsheets and tribal knowledge. The need for something better.
Now that mindset is guiding everything we build.
Ben Engel hosted the episode, and it is a fun one. Quick, honest, no fluff — just three people talking through what this new chapter means and what comes next.
